To get the most out of the Débutant Course, you’ll need:
- A PC or Mac (desktop or laptop)
- A microphone (built-in or external)
- Speakers or wired headphones
Speaking and listening are core parts of the course, so clear audio input and output are essential.
Important Note About Apple AirPods / Earbuds
⚠️ Please do not use Apple AirPods or similar Bluetooth earbuds for speech input.
While they work well for listening, they do not provide enough microphone bandwidth for accurate speech capture. As a result:
- Your spoken French may sound distorted
- The AI may struggle to understand your pronunciation
- Feedback and critiques may be less accurate
👉 Recommendation:
Use your computer’s built-in microphone or a wired headset for best results.
Recommended Audio Setup (Best Results)
For the best speech input quality, we recommend an inexpensive gamer-style USB headset (combined microphone and headphones).
These headsets: - Provide much clearer microphone audio - Are designed for real-time voice communication - Work extremely well with speech recognition
Setup is easy:
1. Plug the USB headset into your computer
2. In Windows or macOS, select it as your input and output device
3. Start speaking — no extra software required
This setup greatly improves pronunciation detection and allows the AI to give more accurate and helpful feedback.
